Designs and statics of attachments

Based on the piping analysis we develop suitable designs of attachments, which ensure the load transfer for all load cases. This imply beside a 3D design of the attachment, from which the fabrication isometric drawing and the parts list are derived from, the generation of the statics of attachment with a design and structure of attachment data sheet.

Our approach

Load precaution

In general the proof of a pipe attachment should be done with rounded loads as well as load precaution of at least 10% and 1kN/1kNm respectively – if thereby the success of the proof isn’t endangered. Thus it is guaranteed that little changes in the piping calculation not lead to a rework of the statics.

Stiffness of a attachment

Attachments generally are as stiff and simple as possible to construct. The construction should be chosen so that it is as statically defined as possible and suitable for load transfer of all load cases.

Construction

Thereby the construction should be composed of MSH-profiles (ease of decontamination) and standard parts. Decisively for the construction are

  • Design basis load cases (loads)
  • Interfering edges in the area of the piping and
  • Connection possibilities on the structure.

Pipe clamps which transfer loads on the pipe by friction – so called pipe choker - are to avoid. Instead of them cams should be taken if possible. For the structure of attachment standardized anchor plates should be used according to the local structural condition.

Calculation

Basis for the calculation is the currently valid guideline like the KTA3205 and the DIN18800. The calculation of a pipe attachment enclose the stress analysis of the

  • structural steel sections
  • standard parts
  • welding seams and
  • anchoring (anchor bolt)
Thereby for the proof of the structural steel sections simple FE calculation programs (framework programs) are generally used. Standard parts and welding seams are proven with the nominal stress concept. The proof of anchor bolts is according to special calculation methods (CC-method/ETAG) also carried out with the nominal stress concept.
